Husthwaite Parish Council News
Parish Council meeting held on the 20th Jan, 2015. Those in attendance can be viewed at the end of this article.
ARTICLE 4 DIRECTION (Should we strengthen the village conservation criteria)
Due to a distinct lack of responses, less than 20%) and no over all majority from those that did return the flyers , the Parish Council will not be taking this matter any further.
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service have accepted responsibility for the village defibrillator and it was agreed to ask the Village Hall Committee if they would be willing to have the defibrillator cabinet installed in a prominent position somewhere outside the village hall.
Orchards of Husthwaite have kindly offered to pay for 50%of the cabinet with the Parish Council paying the other 50%. The total cost of the cabinet is £520+ VAT.
Elphin View drain is STILL blocked however Prospect Cottages‘ drain has been cleared!
DOG WASTE BINS
After approaching Hambleton District Council to ask if we could have another dog waste bin for Bell Lane we received a response saying yes we could but we have to pay for it...£372-18!!!! So the PC are going to purchase one from elsewhere at a cost of £84-00!
Paul Escreet has been looking into the possibility of strengthening the mobile network in and and around Husthwaite but to cut a long story short...it looks like Vodafone are now not offering this service.
SCHOOL PARKING WARDEN
The PC have not heard anything from the parking warden so we will chase this up as parking at school pick up and drop off time has become quite a hazardous affair for other road users! If you
use the school please be aware that if you park illegally (ie double parked, blocking walkways) you are liable for a fine from the warden or in fact from the Police if they see you!
Paul Escreet is in the process of converting the Parish Plan from its current PDF form into a spreadsheet so that we can work through the Plan bit by bit and 'tick off' what we have achieved thus far. It will also enable the Council to clearly see what still needs to be done and what is no longer viable due to changes in circumstances etc
PROSPECT COTTAGES DEVELOPMENT
This planning application is due to go to the planning committee on the 5th of February, however this date may change so please check the Planning department on the Hambleton DC website.
Husthwaite PC through consultation with the village has already expressed serious concerns over the density of the proposed development as well as the already poor access/egress, also the proportions of Affordable and Social rented, as we feel there is a real need for affordable housing but no real need for any more social rented housing.
The Yew trees in the Cemetery have now been 'attended to'! Chris Slater has removed the rogue Elder and has trimmed back the Yew trees.
The PC have asked the York and North Yorkshire Road Safety Partnership to site a Speed Matrix Board in the village, position yet to be confirmed.
This will not only record the number of vehicles passing through the village but also the speed of these vehicles.
Road-side parking was also discussed and the PC offered to have a word with a few villagers who park illegally or in generally unsafe positions on the highway.
The PC has a new Clerk!! Yay!
Many thanks to Jan Coulthard for successfully applying to be Husthwaite village's new Parish Clerk.
Jan attended the January meeting and will be setting up a new Parish Council email. When ready, this will be shown on the village website and in the next Newsletter. PTO
If anyone wishes to contact the PC as a whole this will be the best email to use. You can still of course contact each Councillor individually if you so wish and contact details are on the village website.
Once again our thanks to Jan and I am sure you will all agree with me when I say that I am sure she will make an excellent Clerk!
Not only is it the General Election in May when you vote for your MP's it is also the Parish Elections. All members of the PC HAVE to stand down and apply to be re-elected! You will be advised when nomination papers are available, so if you would like to put your name forward then this is the time to do it! PLEASE SHOW US YOU CARE AND MAKE US FEEL WANTED (EITHER BY VOTING FOR CURRENT MEMBERS OR PUTTING YOUR NAME FORWARD IF YOU THINK WE AREN'T DOING A GOOD JOB!)
THEFTS IN HUSTHWAITE
As many of you know there have been an increasing number of break-ins throughout the village (and surrounding areas) and the PC is very concerned about this.
Barney Smith suggested we ask the police about the possibility of installing permanent CCTV cameras at various locations throughout the village.
The contract for Service 31X has been awarded to Stephensons until February 2016.
It has been brought to the attention of the Parish Council that a planning application which was refused by Hambleton District Council last year has gone ahead WITHOUT planning consent. The PC will be asking HDC to look into this.
All other on-going and new applications can be view online on the Hambleton District Council website.
Tuesday 17th March 2015 7.30PM Village Hall.
