The Worm Eaten Waistcoat

Alison Backhouse gives a talk on her book:

The Worm Eaten Waistcoat.

This is a book about real life in the pawn-broker's pledge office during 1777-78.
George Fettes' comments about his customers and their pledges
are extremely entertaining!
Essential for everyone who has ever found it hard to make ends meet -
and invaluable for students of social history, costume, watches
and those with a pawnbroker as an ancestor.

Alison  has also been exploring her family tree and is related to the Tebb family who were once well known residents in Husthwaite.
