CCG Local Winter Weather Warning
CCG urges local residents to prepare for upcoming cold weather snap
A health body which commissions health services for Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby areas is urging local residents to prepare for the cold weather conditions due over the next few of days.
Choosing the right service will ensure patients receive the best possible treatment, while freeing up busy NHS services to help the people who need them most.
Dr Charles Parker, local GP and CCG Clinical Chair said:
"Many residents will have seen the recent "severe" Met Office weather warning of rain, snow, wind, fog and ice to hit the UK over the next five days.
"We're already seeing pressures on NHS services around the country and although our local services are coping well, we urge local residents to really think about which services they need to access.
"If you have an elderly neighbour, please keep a look-out to see if they are warm and well. We advise you to take special care when walking or driving. It is also worth considering if a trip out is really needed in the worst of the weather. It may be worth putting off a trip if you have heart or lung problems, or if you have recently had any falls.
"If you need medical help fast but it's not an emergency, you can call the free NHS 111 service, which can quickly direct you to the right service. It also ensures that the 999 number is kept free for very serious emergency medical cases.
