Film Club 2015 ends on a high! Setting the scene for 2016...
Another successful year for Film Club, thanks in the main to our regulars and a record attendance at our Christmas Special showing of "Casablanca".
In spite of the additional expense of having to purchase the DVD's (previously donated by Calum Mowatt), the Film Club earned enough money to cover its costs, launch a DVD rental scheme and purchase some storage units for our growing collection. Although our DVD rental scheme is still in its infancy, we have more than 100 DVD's now in our bank for lending out.
Our aim is to show a mix of art house cinema, including some foreign language films, a few mainstream and some old favourites. We regularly get 25 plus people at each of the screenings and in December our expectations were surpassed for our Special Christmas showing of "Casablanca"; complete with Moroccan style café décor, live music from the movie from our resident pianist, Gila, and what proved to be very popular "French 75" cocktails. This drew a crowd of 50. A very special thanks to those who came "dressed" for the occasion!
