Primetime awarded Grant!
The new season of Primetime has got off to a good start. Our financial anxieties have been reduced considerably by a grant of £500 from Broadacres.
This is a big weight off my mind. We only charge £2 per session and out of that we've to meet the Hall hire and pay Chloe, our paralympic gymnast coach. It's a stretch, to say the least.
Now I can concentrate on our other challenge. I think it's one we share with most regular users of Husthwaite Village Hall: we want to recruit more members. This becomes ever more necessary when we receive the kind of generous financial support we've had from Easingwold Lions and Broadacres. These organisations need to be reassured they are investing in going concerns.
I'm very proud that Husthwaite was selected by North Yorkshire Sport and Hambleton District Council to pilot Primetime. It was a tribute to the perception that Husthwaite is a place where things happen in the community. The scheme has spread to involve Hutton Rudby, Stokesley, Topcliffe and Stillington. Part of the fun is that we get to visit the village halls at these places.
There's going to be a big gathering of all five Primetime communities at the Forum in Nothallerton on October 29th. This will be a celebration of the success of the launch of this really worthwhile project.
Before that we'll be at Hutton Rudby for a meeting with their members. We've met them before, as well as an exchange of visits with Topcliffe. What happens on these occasions is a good mix of chat and gently competitive sport. After more than a year of practice our people can hold their own in both Boccia and New Age Kurling, so we have nothing to worry about.
