The Lost World!

news

In just over a fortnight, North Country Theatre is coming back to Husthwaite. We have loved their shows before and this one looks brilliant. It's Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World".
It's 1912: Professor Challenger has heard of a lost world, an inaccessible mountain top in the Amazon jungle. Word has it that there are still dinosaurs there and mysterious apemen. An expedition sets off to find the truth and mayhem results. I don't want to give the game away, but there's a balloon ride, monsters in the jungle and a pterodactyl in London.....all on stage in Husthwaite.
North Country Theatre have been excellent each time for us. They've brought us wagon trains in Oregon, horse racing in Yorkshire, feuding farmers in Wensleydale and, last time, a murderous lighthouse keeper. The Northern Echo said about "The Lost World", "This show is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time" and Stage Magazine said, "some wonderful moments of sheer slapstick....can't wait to see what this talented company do next".
It's in the new village hall on Tuesday 14 January at 7.30pm. Tickets are £9 (£6 under 16) from the village shop or ring Andrew Coulthard on 01347 868130. Come if you can; it should be a wonderful way to help launch the new village hall and start 2014.
