£20,000 Leader Bid Success!
LEADER is a funding programme which uses European resources to support local rural communities and economies in the UK. We applied, through the local LEADER programme team based in Helmsley, for help with building the new village hall.
We were particularly looking for money to help us make the new hall as green as we could. We wanted to reduce our energy use as much as possible.
We were thrilled to be told in the last week that our bid had been successful. We have been awarded almost £20,000 to help meet the cost of
- a renewable energy source heating system (an air source heat pump),
- a system to cut down our metered water use by recycling rainwater and
- More environmentally sensitive insulation from renewable sources.
Our bid was very much helped by the Orchards of Husthwaite project who also offered us a substantial donation towards the new hall.
That's one successful LEADER-supported project helping a new one!
