Our Vision
Husthwaite Church of England Primary School aims to combine excellence in teaching and enjoyment of learning, within a committed, caring ethos.
The school provides an exciting, stimulating environment with a culture of respect, where children begin to take responsibility for themselves, our community and the world in which we live. Children develop their self-confidence as learners and are encouraged to progress socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Through the provision of a broad, rich, innovative curriculum, the children experience the joy of discovery, whilst being challenged to achieve the highest possible standards.
The family community of our Church School reflects Christian values which permeate throughout our school life. Collective worship is a valued part of our school day.
High priority is given to working in partnership with home, school, church and the community.
By working together we can realise our vision and enable each and every child to achieve their full potential.

February 2006 Inspection Press Release
OFSTED success for Husthwaite CE Primary School
Staff and pupils at Husthwaite CE Primary School are celebrating a successful OFSTED report following an inspection which took place on 8 & 9 February with the school having just two days notice of the inspector’s arrival.
The inspector arrived to see the school having one of its ‘Challenge Days’ and she was especially impressed with the Foundation Stage which was rated as ‘outstanding and giving children excellent opportunities to learn productively from intensely interesting and purposeful activities.’
Highlighting further improvements since the last successful inspection in 2000, the inspector went on to praise the school’s outstanding curriculum with exceptionally high standards in English and said that children achieve well because of outstanding provision to ensure that learning difficulties as well as potential high achievers are identified early.
With a strong Christian ethos underpinning all that the school does and values, the report identified that pupils achieve well with levels of care, support and guidance that are particularly effective at developing their confidence. With good attendance and behaviour pupils ‘clearly enjoy coming to school’.
Commenting on the report, Chair of Governors Andrew Markham said “We are delighted that the OFSTED inspector has echoed the governors’ view of how successful Husthwaite is and that the report recognises the outstanding leadership of the head teacher, Ian Yapp. We would like to congratulate all the staff and pupils whose hard work has led to this excellent report.”
